Well, I turned down the job offer. Perhaps if it were closer and paid better, I would have tried to make it work. Right now, though, I feel much more comfortable staying home another year. I’d rather have Z in preschool part-time and have time to pursue some classes myself. Also, I have no idea how [...] C has been continuing to use EPGY at home, since his school has been less than supportive. After a long period of not requesting to use EPGY at school, C did ask for it two days in a row. The first day they had trouble getting it working and the next day they insisted he do [...] It’s been hard to stay positive the past couple of weeks. While I was thrilled to be one of the select few applicants to get an interview with my first choice graduate school, the interview itself was extremely disappointing. I was scheduled for an hour with the department head, but she rushed out after half the [...] Time is just flying by and now C’s additional testing with our public school district is just days away and I still haven’t mentioned it to him. I will have to this weekend, but still am uncertain how I will approach it. I’m not sure whether I should be honest and tell him that it’s likely [...] Last month, I got called a pushy parent by C’s school. I’m not too surprised about that, because I’ve spent months going back and forth with them about getting accommodations for C. This is despite the fact that I let them know about his needs when we applied last year and again over the summer before [...] Although we’ve met with C’s school a couple times this school year to discuss accommodations, we had our first true parent conference this week. It was interesting to talk to his teacher and see his portfolio work. His teacher brought up that she’s still deciding how to properly evaluate C, since he’s a younger student. The [...] It’s been two weeks since C’s school agreed to let him use EPGY math there, but they have yet to start. I find it a bit disappointing how long it’s taken to get any accommodations in place considering how open I was about his needs prior to his starting there. Still, they at least are willing [...] We finally had a chance to try out the EPGY program over the weekend. We’re going through the Open Enrollment Program, thanks to Melissa on Davidson’s. Even though the math program started C quite low (.5, which is half way through kindergarten), he still enjoyed it. He loves doing just about anything on the computer, thankfully. [...] This week has been crazy. I’ve been dealing with insurance issues for Z’s speech therapy, met with C’s school and had a GIEP meeting with our district.
