Wow, it’s been a year of blogging already. Today is my one year blogiversary! Looking back, I see that I managed to post a lot more frequently in the beginning. I think I had a lot pent up that I wanted to get out, plus didn’t know yet about some of the great gifted communities already [...] Last week the latest Davidson Institute eNews-Update was published. Worth noting is their updated map of gifted policies by state and list of summer programs. I have also started updating my links section with more resources that I have come across, including colleges with various summer and weekend programs for gifted students. [...] The first time I saw the acronym IRL in a blog, I had no clue what it referred to. I forget if I Googled it or finally figured it out from context, but it meant “In Real Life”. The blogger was concerned that someone from her real life was reading her blog, which hadn’t been censored. [...] Happy Thanksgiving! I can’t believe it’s been over a week since my last blog. I finally set a date for the GRE (12/10, wish me luck) and have been cramming instead of blogging. Of course last weekend I came down with what I suspect may be H1N1 (no doubt from volunteering at C’s school the week [...] This new school year has been an adjustment for C. It’s a new school, with a school day twice as long, full of new people and new routines. While he had few social or behavioral problems last year in kindergarten, this year has been different. The guidance counselor offered to add C to her social skills [...] I wish I could exercise and blog at the same time! Those are two things often left until the end of the day and it would be superb if I could somehow accomplish them both every night. At one point my husband had rigged up the exercise bike with a makeshift laptop stand, but I seem [...] The past week has been so dizzying that I’ve had no time to blog (among other things). Along with shuttling Z back and forth to speech therapy, getting third opinions and setting up an appointment for a fourth (and hopefully final), I’ve been dealing with C’s school situation, pushing the district to finish his Gifted Written [...] Perhaps because our long trip to Maine went so smoothly, we actually dared to drive back last night in hopes the kids would sleep. Well, C would have probably slept for most or all of the ride, if Z would have let him. Little Z slept for the first couple hours and then started screaming to [...] I’m not much of one for acronyms. I think they’re way overused, but do admit to using them on occasion (I’m afraid I end every chat with “TTYL”). I really want to know who thought up DS for dear son. Typing DS instead of son saves you one letter and then has the side-effect of confusing [...] |
