I’m a suburban, stay-at-home mom and graduate student with two boys (C age 6 & Z age 2), a dog and a wonderfully supportive husband. I started this blog to journal my (often frustrating) experiences being a mom of a gifted child. The past few years have been full of struggles with day care, private schools, a cyber charter school and the public school system.
As a former educator myself, I’ve taken an active role in researching gifted education and giftedness in general. I find it disheartening how few options there are out there for our gifted children and how our school systems often fail them more than any other student population. I’m frustrated by so many educators and caregivers thinking they have all the answers when they’ve never educated themselves about these kids. Yet we have to entrust our children to them day after day. This is why I have returned to school to pursue a degree in educational psychology. I hope to share any insights with my readers as I work to complete my degree.
The photos in the header of this blog are from my honeymoon in Aruba. My husband and I hope to take our kids there some day.
