We finally had a chance to try out the EPGY program over the weekend. We’re going through the Open Enrollment Program, thanks to Melissa on Davidson’s. Even though the math program started C quite low (.5, which is half way through kindergarten), he still enjoyed it. He loves doing just about anything on the computer, thankfully. [...] This week has been crazy. I’ve been dealing with insurance issues for Z’s speech therapy, met with C’s school and had a GIEP meeting with our district. Below is a revised summary based on my post on Davidson’s. We met with C’s private school on Monday and then had a GIEP meeting with our district today. District officials [...] Z’s finally had his expert speech evaluation yesterday. In my area, it just doesn’t get any better than CHOP. So far I’ve gotten a mix of opinions, though the only group to say that Z doesn’t need speech therapy has been Early Intervention. It’s not really in their interests to offer more kids services, after all. [...] I heard back from Johns Hopkins, a day later than I expected, but it was a pretty quick response to my intake paperwork. They say that they try to call within two weeks, which is great. I have mixed feelings about the call, though. The psychologist suggested that we wait until further into the school year [...] I wish I could exercise and blog at the same time! Those are two things often left until the end of the day and it would be superb if I could somehow accomplish them both every night. At one point my husband had rigged up the exercise bike with a makeshift laptop stand, but I seem [...] I got a call from the school district yesterday to schedule C’s GIEP meeting in a couple weeks. This is now 10 months into my battle with the district to have C identified as a gifted student. I have a feeling that the GIEP will not be acceptable on the first go around, especially since they [...] It seems like lately there just haven’t been enough hours in the day to get things done. I’m behind on e-mails, skipped exercising three days in the past week, haven’t done any studying for the GRE in over a week, have yet to finish filling out the JHU intake paperwork for an educational evaluation, and the [...] The past week has been so dizzying that I’ve had no time to blog (among other things). Along with shuttling Z back and forth to speech therapy, getting third opinions and setting up an appointment for a fourth (and hopefully final), I’ve been dealing with C’s school situation, pushing the district to finish his Gifted Written [...] |
